The Madagascar Tourism Board, in collaboration with KSA Enterprises – India, Tourism Representation Company, hosted 22 Top performing travel agents from India 4 major Cities, namely Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai & Delhi, on a Trade FAM trip recently. The 22 travel agents group was led by Mr. Santha Kumar, Vice President of KSA in association with Air Madagascar, Tsaradia, Air Austral and Air Mauritius.

These 22 agents were divided into 5 Groups and they explored each region of Madagascar. They covered total 5 unique itineraries – Morondava (west), Taolagnaro (south east), Toliara (south), Toamasina (east), Antsiranana (north).

The focus was on a specific customer segment – Madagascar as a family destination. The purpose of this trip was to acquaint the agents with services and offerings and experience new and existing products of Madagascar as a family destination. The agents also met the sellers of Madagascar directly through a B2B networking event.

Madagascar Tourism Board welcomed all the FAM participants to a networking event with the stakeholders, including some of the biggest names in Tourism Industry like : Chairman of Madagascar National Tourism Board Mr. Narijao Boda, Executive director Of Madagascar National Tourism Board Mrs. Vola Raveloson, General Director of Tourism at the Ministry of Transport, Tourism and Meteorology Mr. Yves Maurice Rakotoniaina, and Abhay Kumar as the Indian Ambassador.

Indian Ambassador in Madagascar announced that India will be a guest country for the upcoming Tourism Exhibition ITM which is going to be held in Madagascar on 18th to 21st June 2020.

The carefully prepared seven days itinerary helped to showcase the best of hotels and destinations to the group. The first stop for the group was Antananarivo – Capital of Madagascar where they explored the city and checked a few hotels.

The groups then got to explore various attractions in the cities and were introduced to top excursions, cuisines, niche hotel properties and other offerings. The FAM trip even provided the opportunity to experience places that are untouched by humans.

According to the statistics and research done by KSA enterprise, India is expected to generate 50 Million outbound tourists by 2022.

It is no wonder that Madagascar Tourism Board is actively promoting the destination in the Indian Travel Market.  Tourism is currently the second largest foreign exchange earner in the country, and the government hopes to increase this share. Still in the early stages of development, there is large potential for the tourist industry to grow as Madagascar’s infrastructure improves.

Madagascar is one of the most beautiful touristic destinations in the world and is a well-known tourist destination for activities such as safaris, baobab trees discovery, and idling on beaches.

The Treasure Island is unique: 5% of all known animal and plant species can be found here, and here alone. The island’s signature animal is the lemur : more than 100 species, all of them endemic. But there are many more weird and wonderful creatures and plants: baobabs, insects, whales, frogs, orchids, palms, birds, turtles, mongoose.

The remarkable fauna and flora is matched by epic landscapes of an incredible diversity: you can go from rainforest to desert in just 300km.

There are fantastic sights to discover within a unique history, but also numerous opportunities to meet local people and immerse yourself in their world: in village stays, long-distance trails, festivals, taxi-brousse (bush taxis) and Friday night discos.

This makes tourism one of the mainstays of the State’s economy and for any traveller, a favorite place where to spend time in and come back for more.
